Bharmour: Local BJP MLA Jia Lal Kapoor on Monday distributed face masks to the residents of Kugti, one of the remotest and oldest villages of Bharmour tribal subdivision in Chamba district. Kapoor also made Kugti residents aware of the threat of coronavirus and the need to follow social distancing. OC

2 booked for home quarantine violation

Kangra: Two persons were booked at Khundia and Nagrota Bagwan in the district on Monday for violation of home quarantine norms. Kangra SP Vimukut Ranjan said that Narveer Singh, a resident of Chilga village in Khundia tehsil, and Amit Kumar, a resident of Saroot in Badoh tehsil, were booked under the IPC and the Disaster Management Act for not obeying the home quarantine norms. Cong provides ration kits to poor

Chamba: On the directions of HPCC president Kuldeep Singh Rathore, the Block Congress Committee has provided about 800 ration kits to the needy and the poor in Chamba. Committee president Kartar Singh Thakur said here on Monday that 7,000 face masks had also been distributed in the area. Their endeavour was to help poor people during the lockdown. OC

Hospital sealed in Nurpur

NURPUR: The police sealed Vijay Multi-Specialty Hospital at Bodh, near here, on Monday for not maintaining social distancing on its premises. On the complaint of Daulat Chauhan, a resident of Jawali, a case was registered against Dr Vijay Kumar, owner of the hospital, for risking the lives of visitors to Covid19. Nurpur DSP Sahil Arora said the police had been receiving complaints against the hospital for not maintaining social distancing. Several warnings had been issued to the hospital owner but to no avail. Finally, it was sealed till further orders, he added. OC

Dharamsala Ex-MLA Chander Verker passes away

Dharamsala: Chander Verker, former Congress MLA from Dharamsala, passed away at his resident here on Monday; he was elected legislator for one term in 1972. He was popularly known in Dharamsala as Prof Chander Verker, as he had taught in local Government College. Senior Congress leaders from Kangra, including former minister GS Bali, AICC secretary Sudhir Sharma and Kangra district president Ajay Mahajan, have expressed grief over the demise of Verker, who during his tenure as MLA was credited with bringing up War Memorial Park in Dharamsala. Pathankot traders to show Covid report to enter Jassur

Nurpur: Local MLA Rakesh Pathania today said traders hailing from neighbouring Pathankot (Punjab) can enter the state through the inter-state Kandwal barrier, provided they are healthy and their Covid report is negative. They would have to show the test report to the local administration before entering the state. As many as 77 residents of Pathankot have their business establishments at Jassur and surrounding areas, which are currently being run by their kin. OC

Quality of PPE kits questioned

Hamirpur: The Himcahal Pradesh Medical Officers Association has raised questions on the quality of PPE kits supplied to the corona warriors. Dr Pushpinder Verma alleged that the quality of the PPE kits was compromised that was a big breach in the security of doctors serving Covid-19 patients. He said the label of the company that supplied the kits was not in the kit and the ISI marking was also missing. He alleged that there could be a bigger scam in the supply of PPE kits to the doctors.
