Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple cutting-edge healthcare and infrastructure initiatives at AIIMS Bilaspur today. The projects, worth around Rs 232 crore, will significantly enhance the healthcare facilities in the region.

An AIIMS spokesperson stated that this development will lead to a major advancement in expanding access to state-of-the-art medical facilities and services, strengthening the healthcare system, and reaffirming the government’s dedication to providing accessible and reasonably priced healthcare in the area.

The major facilities inaugurated by the Prime Minister include a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, which costs Rs 16.8 crore, to enhance diagnosis accuracy and shorten patient wait times. The Endocrinology, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology (ECR) laboratory, set up at a cost of Rs 2 crore, will offer specialist testing for immunological, hormonal, and metabolic problems.

Other notable facilities include the bronchoscopy suite, which will support both therapeutic and diagnostic bronchoscopy operations to treat respiratory diseases, and a pulmonary ICU with 31 intensive care beds.

Additionally, the PM laid the foundation stone for infrastructure projects, including lecture theatres, hostels, and faculty and staff quarters. The hostels will provide high-quality lodging facilities for undergraduate students, with a 334-bedded girls’ hostel costing around Rs 44.58 crore and a 204-bedded boys’ hostel costing Rs 38.63 crore.
