The Parwanoo police arrested a 22-year-old Kalka resident, Paras, in connection with an extortion case where a Karsog resident was duped of Rs 12,400. The incident occurred on January 15 while the victim, Himanshu Kumar, was on his way to purchase a truckload of bricks from a village in Haryana.

According to Solan SP Gaurav Singh, Himanshu, a resident of Karsog in Mandi district, lodged a complaint stating that he was traveling from Tatapani to Charaniya near Kalka in his truck (HP07E-5768). Around 12.15 pm, he stopped near Tipra, at the Himachal Pradesh border, to use the washroom when two youths on a bike (HR49K-9706) approached his truck. Simultaneously, two more individuals joined them.

The group of four pushed Himanshu and stole the money from his wallet, which was inside his truck. They also took the keys to his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Parwanoo police registered a case of extortion and launched an investigation. The CCTV footage from the area was examined, and the police raided several locations to apprehend the accused. Paras, a resident of Tibbi Mohalla, Kalka, was arrested last evening from Sitaram Kheda village in Kalka, Haryana.

Both motorcycles used in the incident, bearing registration numbers HR49K-9706 and HR49G-3559, were seized. During the investigation, it was discovered that the motorcycles belonged to two other accused, Hrithik and Arjun, both residents of Sitaram Kheda, who are currently on the run.
