Bilaspur former MLA Gautam passes away

Former Bilaspur Sadar MLA Baburam Gautam was cremated at Lahunu Ghat in Bilaspur yesterday. The veteran Congress leader had died on Sunday. The people of Bilaspur district were shocked to hear the news of Gautam’s demise. On Sunday morning, a large number of people gathered at his residence to pay their last respects and offer floral tributes. At the cremation at Luhnu Ghat, his son Anup Gautam lit the fire. The atmosphere was filled with emotion as family members, well-wishers, supporters and local residents bid tearful farewell to the leader.

Rajesh Dharmani, Technical Education Minister, paid tribute to the leader by placing a floral wreath on Gautam’s mortal remains. He said that Gautam was “a true public servant”, who had dedicated his entire life to the service of people and their social uplift and the overall development of the region. He added that during his tenure as MLA, Gautam had implemented numerous development schemes and always prioritised addressing people’s concerns.

Dharmani described Gautam’s passing away as an irreparable loss not only for the Congress but also for the entire district. He added that Gautam’s contributions would be remembered forever, as he consistently upheld public welfare and worked tirelessly for the development of the Bilaspur area.

MLA Trilok Jamwal, former MP Suresh Chandel, former minister Ram Lal Thakur, Vichitra Singh, former MLAs Tilak Raj and Bambar Thakur, KK Kaushal, Zila Parishad member Gaurav Sharma and APMC Chairman Satpal Vardhan paid tribute.
