Bilaspur district is gearing up to host a three-day water sports festival from October 10, aiming to boost tourism and showcase the region as a hub for water-based adventure activities. The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar during a preparatory meeting at Bachat Bhawan, Bilaspur.

Organised under the aegis of the Zila Society for Tourism, Sports, Trade and Employment Generation, the festival promises thrilling competitions and vibrant spectacles against the backdrop of Bilaspur’s scenic hills and expansive water bodies.

The festival’s biggest attractions include national-level dragon boat racing, kayaking, and canoeing championships, along with other water adventure events designed to engage visitors and athletes alike. According to the plan, the kayaking and canoeing events will be held at Kol Dam, while the much-awaited dragon boat racing will take place in the majestic Gobind Sagar Lake, covering the stretch between Luhnu Ground and Mandi Bharari Bridge.
