Bishop Cotton to host English elocution contest today

Students from nine leading schools in Shimla will take part in the annual event.
The participating schools include Auckland House School for Boys, Auckland House School for Girls, Chapslee School, Convent of Jesus and Mary, DAV Senior Secondary Public School (Lakkar Bazaar), DAV (New Shimla), Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Shimla Public School and the host institution. Abid Hussain Sadiq, Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, will be the chief guest at the event.
Held annually in memory of the late B L Modi, a revered mathematics teacher at BCS from 1966 to 1982, the competition encourages excellence in English speaking and aims to promote public speaking as an essential life skill. Modi, who also served as Head of Department and Housemaster of Ibbetson House, was known for his discipline and dedication. His sudden passing in 1982 was deeply felt by the school community, and the competition continues to honour his legacy.
