BJP leaders have accused the state government of systematically shutting down essential public services in Nahan, calling it a “government of closures”.

In a joint statement, senior BJP leaders, including Vinay Gupta, Manish Chauhan, RR Sharma, Pratap Thakur and Tapendra Sharma, alleged that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and MLA Ajay Solanki have closed several administrative and healthcare facilities, severely impacting residents. They claimed that the closure of Kala Aam tehsil and five patwar circles has forced people to travel to Nahan for routine work.

The leaders also criticised the government for shutting down three Primary Health Centers in Trilokpur, Panjahal, and Sainwala Mubarikpur, along with a Community Health Centre in Bharapur. These closures have left residents with no option but to seek medical care in distant towns.

They further alleged that the government was planning to shut down Nahan Medical College and Hospital, despite Rs 265 crore in central funding for its expansion. Construction of 11-story buildings for additional hospital beds and a teaching block has reportedly been halted. The BJP claimed that under their government (2017-2022), the number of doctors in Nahan increased from 15 to 115, but the Congress administration has failed to retain or appoint new specialists.

The leaders also questioned the fate of Rs 70 crore meant for a nursing college and Rs. 20 crore for a mother and child hospital. They warned that government inaction could lead to objections from the Medical Council of India (MCI).
