The Congress has termed the BJP’s two-day working committee meeting in Una merely an occasion to sing praises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveniently forgetting that the Prime Minister’s ‘400 paar’ slogan fell flat in the Lok Sabha poll.

“The fact is the BJP has been forced to take support from other national and regional parties to form the government at the Centre,” said Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania in a statement here today.

Countering the BJP’s allegations of the state government benefits to the people, the duo said the BJP should not forget that the Jai Ram government stopped subsidies for pesticides and neglected the interests of fruit growers and farmers. “Besides, the employees were denied their rightful financial benefits,” they said.

They further alleged that the previous BJP government did not pay the arrears to state government employees. “It was the Congress government which restored old pension scheme and released the pending dearness allowance,” they said.
