Nine BJP-supported candidates have won in 18-member Zila Parishad in the district. It required 10 votes to grab the coveted seat of chairperson of the Zila Parishad and with winning nine seats, the BJP need one more to install BJP-supported candidate as the chairperson.

Notably, the post of chairperson was reserved for Scheduled Caste woman this time and there were only two wards reserved for SC women, including Drogan Patti Kot and Karot. One each from the Congress and the BJP had won from these wards putting the ball in the court of two Independents and one from the Communist party.

The candidates who won are Ranjit Singh from Bagehra ward, Sumna Devi from Karot, Babli from Darogan Pati Kot, Mahender Singh from Dhalot, Naresh Kumar from Jangal Ropa, Asha Devi from Anu, Pawan from Dhirad, Raj Kumari from Jahu, Raman Verma from Kharwar, Manu Bala from Bhoranj, Rajesh Kumar from Karer, Meena Kumari from Bijhri, Beena Kumari Barsar, Sanjeev Kumar from Dandru, Sanjeev Kumar from Lahra, Sanjay Kumar from Malag, Indu Bala from Bela and Asheesh Kumar from Nahongi.
