The Sirmaur district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a district-level organisational workshop on Friday at the party office, Deepkamal, in Nahan. The BJP state president, Dr Rajeev Bindal, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing party workers, Dr Bindal said the workshop focused on organisational matters and also on upcoming party programmes. He said a fortnight-long campaign, ‘Seva Pakhwada’, would be held from September 17 to October 2 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

He said during this campaign the BJP would organise a series of events including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, health check-up camps and marathons. The party would also hold celebrations of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti, awareness drives on ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, felicitation ceremonies for differently-abled and distinguished individuals and commemorative events for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. He added sports competitions under the ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav’ banner would also form part of the schedule.

Dr Bindal said detailed discussions were held on the proposed activities to ensure broad participation across the district. The workshop also passed key resolutions criticising what he called the “anti-people policies and decisions” of the current Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting reviewed relief measures undertaken by BJP workers to support families affected by the recent natural calamity in the state.
