The Una district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced its new executive committee, which will serve for the next three years. The announcement was made at the district party office, Deepkamal, in Una city.

Addressing the gathering, Una MLA Satpal Singh Satti said 13 members have been inducted into the committee from each of the district’s five Assembly segments. Women have been given 33 per cent representation, with 22 out of the total 65 members being women, while 14 Scheduled Caste and one Scheduled Tribe member have also been included.

Satti said August 14 will be observed in each Assembly segment as Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas (Partition Horrors Remembrance Day) to condemn the partition of the country, with candle marches planned across all segments. On August 15, the party will mark Tiranga Divas, with the National Flag hoisted atop every BJP worker’s house. In the run-up to Independence Day, Tiranga Yatras will be taken out across all Assembly segments.

He further announced that a state-level training workshop for senior BJP leaders, including state executive committee members, all elected MLAs and MPs, presidents and secretaries of state and district units and leaders of various party wings, will be held in Una on August 24.

Kangra MLA Pawan Kumar Kajal, senior state leader Sanjeev Katwal and former MLAs Rajesh Thakur, Balbir Singh Chaudhary, Chaitanya Sharma and Davinder Bhutto were present on the occasion.
