The BJP Legislature Party today submitted a memorandum to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, seeking a CBI inquiry into the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi and the working of the HPPCL over the past two years. Negi’s family has alleged that he was being harassed by his senior officers and was under severe mental pressure.

The BJP MLAs apprised the Governor of Negi’s death and subsequent action taken by the government and said that the FIR registered in the case mentioned merely the post of one IAS officer, not his name, though he had been transferred before the registration of the FIR.

Besides, the BJP MLAs told the Governor, “If an IAS officer is conducting an inquiry into the matter in which another IAS officer is accused of involvement, there will be a question mark on the impartiality of the probe.”
