Rakesh Jamwal, chief spokesperson for the BJP in Himachal Pradesh, has condemned the state’s Congress government for imposing taxes that exacerbate inflation, particularly during the festive season. He highlighted sharp increases in essential goods like mustard oil and refined oil, which have risen by Rs 25 and Rs 10, respectively. Jamwal accused the government of implementing anti-people policies, burdening citizens during Hindu festivals.

He also criticised the government’s decision to cut 51 technical positions from the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, calling it part of an anti-employee agenda. Jamwal argued this discourages the state’s youth and professionals, despite the government’s promises to create 5 lakh jobs.

He further pointed out that electricity board employees and engineers have adopted a “work-to-rule” strategy, which could lead to delayed responses to power outages, impacting the public. He attributed this to the government’s inefficiency and lack of concern for its citizens.
