They expressed their anger against the killing of 20 Army men and burned an effigy of China. “The cowardly attack of Chinese on border is unfortunate and the violent incidents on the LAC prove that there is a difference between perception and practice. India will not forget the sacrifice of these jawans, said district ABVP convener Sachin. The country is in safe hands and the entire nation stands behind the armed forces. The need of the hour is to make the country “self-reliant”, he added.
SFI opposes 18% GST on education
The state SFI unit has strongly opposed the imposition of 18 per cent GST (Goods and Services Tax) on education by staging statewide demonstrations urging the government to withdraw it. The SFI also opposed the levy of GST on affiliation fee, inspection in continuation fee being paid to the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) by colleges and said the right to education was a fundamental right and the government could not tax education. While students are demanding free education, the government has taken a diabolical stand by imposing GST on education on the pretext that the state was facing financial crunch due to Covid-19 and the SFI would oppose the GST on education tooth and nail, said state president of SFI Raman Tharta.
Students sensitised to drug abuse
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at Government Senior Secondary School, Tutu, and principal Kavita Verma administered an online oath to all students and teachers to stay away from drugs and help in making India drug-free. She said drug abuse was a serious issue and people should be made aware of its ill-effects.
