In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Chamba police recovered 600 gm of charas in two separate incidents. In the first case, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) apprehended Hari Singh, a resident of Kudthala village in Churah tehsil, with 414 gm of charas. The SIU team was patrolling the Nakrod-Khakhdi area in Churah when they noticed Singh attempting to flee upon seeing the police. His suspicious behaviour prompted a chase, leading to his arrest. A search of his belongings revealed 414 gm of charas. Singh was arrested on the spot and a case was registered at the Sadar police station. In the second incident, police recovered 250 gm of charas from an unclaimed bag on a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus at the Tunnuhatti police checkpoint, the district's entry point. While conducting routine inspections of vehicles, the police discovered an abandoned bag containing charas. Despite questioning the passengers, no one claimed ownership of the bag. A case was registered against an unidentified individual.
