The Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) management that owes Rs 6.33 crore as property tax to the Shimla Municipal Corporation has been granted one-month extension to clear the dues.
The ISBT management had not deposited the property tax with the corporation for many years. After it did not heed to several notices, the MC gave it an ultimatum earlier this month. In the final notice, the civic body had directed the ISBT management to either deposit the tax within two weeks or be ready to face cut in electricity and water supply connections.
Shimla Municipal Commissioner Bhupinder Attri said the ISBT management had requested the MC to grant one month more to pay the property tax after which additional time was granted. The ISBT building at Tutikandi houses several eateries, a multiplex, shops and hotels, besides the interstate bus stand.
