Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today said that the state government is endeavouring to set up satellite towns for planned urbanisation in the state.

Negi held discussions with officials of different departments after visiting various areas of Baddi sub-division today where they explored the possibility of setting up satellite towns and establishment of additional industrial areas.

He said that a Cabinet sub-committee has been constituted by the state government to reduce the pressure of congestion in Shimla city and Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial area.

The Revenue Minister said that a large number of industrial workers and labourers from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula come to the region to work. The state government is endeavouring to provide better residential facilities to them and a satellite town will cater to their needs.

He also emphasised that the state government is committed to better traffic management in this area.

The committee inspected various places where the township can be set up. A detailed discussion will also be held with other senior ministers of the committee after submission of a report.

The Revenue Minister said that better roads, sewerage system and other arrangements will be improved to further develop this industrial cluster. "In case land is available for development and expansion of the industrial area, the matter will be referred to the higher level," he informed.

Doon MLA and special invited member Ram Kumar Choudhary stressed on planned development of the region and provided detailed information on the subject.

Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma, Director, Urban Development Department and Cabinet Sub-Committee Member Secretary Dr Neeraj Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
