Presiding over the valedictory function, Wing Commander Kunal Sharma, Commanding Officer and Camp Commandant, felicitated outstanding cadets with medals and mementos in recognition of their exemplary performances throughout the camp.
A standout among the participating institutions, the Air Force Flight of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, emerged as one of the top-performing units, securing first place in a range of competitions including the 400m relay race, volleyball (SW), group song, skit, aero modelling (RC model) and screen display.
Adding to the college’s pride, Cadet Diksha Kumari was promoted to the rank of Senior Under Officer for her stellar representation at the Republic Day Camp in Delhi and consistent excellence during camp activities. Her rank was formally conferred by Wing Commander Sharma and Flying Officer Dr Chaman.
Cadet Anshul of Government College Kullu was also promoted to Senior Under Officer, recognised for his exceptional achievements at the Republic Day Camp. His promotion was presented by Wing Commander Sharma and Flying Officer Nishchal Sharma. The Air Force Flight of Government College Kullu dominated several disciplines, taking top spots in drill, solo dance, volleyball (SD) and the 400m relay race (SD).
In the Junior Division and Junior Wing, Government Senior Secondary School, Jari, was declared the overall winner, while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Badarol, stood out with a remarkable win in the drill competition.
Throughout the camp, cadets underwent intensive training designed to instill discipline and build confidence. Activities included weapon training, rifle firing, parade drills, tent pitching, outdoor survival skills and aero modelling involving both RC and control-line aircraft. Specialised sessions on SSB interview preparation, personality development and motivational lectures by defence experts were also part of the programme.
A major highlight was a three-day SSB workshop conducted by Group Captain Naval Saini (Retd), former vice-president of 2 AFSB Mysore and an alumnus of the NDA. His mentorship in communication, leadership and officer-like qualities left a deep impression on aspiring cadets.
The camp also featured two nights of cultural performances, celebrating India’s diversity and artistic talent. Cadets showcased their creativity through group and solo dances, folk music, skits and the traditional Himachali Nati. Folk singers Lok Verma and comedian Vishal Sharma captivated the audience with their performances under the theme “Himalayan Roots” and “Himalayan Chants.” The high-energy musical evening featuring the Sahar Band, with artists Rohit and AC Bhardwaj, turned the IIT Mandi auditorium into a hub of rhythm and celebration.
Motivational talks added depth to the cultural nights. Captain Kunal Sagar of the Indian Army’s Armoured Corps, a former NCC cadet, shared gripping stories from his service, inspiring a sense of pride and patriotism.
