The events were organised by NotOnMap in collaboration with local tourism committees, schools and homestay operators. Participants pledged to care for the environment, reduce waste, avoid single-use plastics and support local food, handicrafts and services. A major highlight was the pledge to transform Mystic Village, Khajjiar, into a “No-Plastic Community,” with the aim of ranking among the cleanest villages in Asia. Locals also vowed to contribute actively through kitchens, cultural programmes, adventure activities and other community initiatives, while respecting and celebrating the traditions and values of Mystic Villages. The initiative reflects Chamba’s growing commitment to creating a sustainable and inclusive tourism model, enhancing both visitor experience and local livelihoods.
