Camp in Nahan to promote ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’

Under the aegis of the Department of Women and Child Development, Himachal Pradesh, the Child Development Project Office (CDPO), Nahan, organised a one-day training camp for ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. The camp, attended by 50 participants, focused on spreading awareness about the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative.

Nahan CDPO Ishak Mohammad highlighted the primary objectives of the the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme, which includes improving the child sex ratio, promoting gender equality and empowering girls. He also announced plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the scheme on January 22 with various activities in collaboration with related departments, as per the guidelines received.

Kritika Chauhan, District Coordinator under the District Programme Officer, Sirmaur, elaborated on the goals of the the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative. She also discussed other related programmes under Mission Vatsalya, such as the Mission Hub and One Stop Centres, which provide support and resources for women and children.

The CDPO urged ASHA and Anganwadi workers to play an active role in raising awareness about the initiative and working towards its goals of equality and empowerment.

The camp also included an informative session by Aarti Devi, Block Coordinator for the Poshan Abhiyan.
