Two serving soldiers of the Indian Army were killed in a road accident last night in Padhar area of Mandi district. A case was registered at Padhar police station under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the complaint, a Kia Sonnet car (HP33G-0204) skidded off the road near Darlag and plunged nearly 600m into a deep gorge. The victims have been identified as Nitesh, son of late Suresh Kumar, resident of Tarna Hill, Thanehra Mohalla, Mandi, and Mahender Kumar, son of late Moti Ram, resident of Doosra Khabu under Balh tehsil in Mandi. Both men died on the spot due to the impact.

The soldiers were going to attend a friend’s wedding at Bregan village when the accident occurred. The police recovered the bodies, conducted post-mortem examinations and handed those to the families for the last rites.
