The Himachal Pradesh Government has established a 10-member Carbon Credit Committee, chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary (Forest), to explore the carbon market and generate additional revenue. The committee would study domestic and international carbon markets, aiming to develop state-specific carbon credit projects.

He said it would also guide the formulation of projects for securing carbon credits and collaborate with project developers, consultants, and traders. Additionally, the committee would examine successful carbon credit initiatives across India and propose adjustments to existing schemes to optimise the state's benefits. Regular interactions with Indian carbon market administrators and international standards will also be arranged.
