Dr Sudhanshu Budakoty, head of cardiology from Alchemist Hospital, inaugurated cardiology and neurology services at Sai Hospital here today. He said the time had come to take best health facilities to take to rural areas of the country and provide expert consultation to every needy person. He said it was unfortunate that heart disease had become common among people living in hilly states too. He said stress and smoking are major causes of heart diseases. He said heart diseases could be prevented by changing lifestyle, eating habits and improving knowledge. He said the cardiology and neurology facility started at Sai Hospital would be of great help to locals as for these treatments, people had to visit bigger cities like Chandigarh, Jalandhar or Delhi.

Dr Manish Budhiraja, a specialist in neurology, said neurosurgery OPD would cater to the spine and brain-related diseases here. Speaking on Alzheimers, he said the disease was seen in young people now and that was due to overburden and stress. —
