The Department of Animal Husbandry organised a one-day awareness camp at the Veterinary Hospital at Mashobra in Shimla district on National Milk Day. Around 40 livestock owners from the dairy sector of Mashobra block participated in the programme. Dr Heena Behl and Dr Rajender Rajta educated the participants on the importance and nutritional value of milk along with techniques for clean milk production and improved dairy management practices.

The experts stressed the importance of cowshed hygiene management, animal hygiene management and cleanliness of milk containers. The livestock owners were also made aware of the government’s thrust on constituting milk cooperatives societies at the panchayat level.
