A DDMA spokesperson urged residents and travellers in vulnerable areas to exercise extreme caution. People are advised to stay away from rivers, streams and landslide-prone hillsides, avoid unnecessary travel and ensure livestock are kept in safe shelters.

The official stressed the importance of adhering to all directions issued by the administration and encouraged the public to remain

The spokesperson also recommended downloading the ‘Sachet’ mobile application, developed by the National Disaster Management Authority. The spokesperson said the app offers real-time alerts and information on natural disasters, including storms, heavy rain and landslides, helping users stay informed and prepared.

Emergency contact numbers, including a toll-free helpline, have been made available by the DDMA to assist the public throughout this period of heightened weather risk.
