Chamba college felicitates weightlifting championship winners

A felicitation ceremony was held at Government Post Graduate College, Chamba, on Monday to honour the medal winners of the Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Weightlifting Championship in both men’s and women’s categories.

College principal Dr Madan Lal Guleria was the chief guest at the event. Providing details of the event, team in-charge Professor Sachin Mehra said the women’s competition was held at Government College, Nadaun, from November 7 to 9, while the men’s competition took place at Government College, Indora, from November 12 to 14.

A total of 20 students from Government College, Chamba — 10 from the women’s team and 10 from the men’s team — participated in the championships.

He said, in the women’s championship, Monika won Gold in the 87-kg category, while Rimjhim won bronze in the 59-kg category.

In the men’s championship, Uday Singh won the silver medal the 81-kg category, while Khem Raj won the silver in the 96-kg category and Daksh Vij and Nayan Kashyap won bronze medals in the 67-kg and 109-kg categories, respectively.

The men’s team secured the overall third place.

Dr Guleria congratulated the winners and presented awards to them.
