The conference aims to blend India’s economic, social and technological progress with the timeless values and philosophical insights of ancient Indian civilisation to realise the vision of ‘developed India’ by 2047 — the centenary of the nation’s independence.
The conference coordinator, Dr Madan Guleria, said that the participating researchers would deliberate on how the wisdom of ancient texts such as the Rigveda, Upanishads, Arthashastra and Puranas, as well as traditional Indian governance systems, could guide modern India towards inclusive development, environmental sustainability and social harmony.
The key themes of the discussion would include commerce, inclusive economy, health for all, ethical and indigenous economic models, environmental protection, participatory democracy and sustainable development through science and technology.
Eminent academicians and experts from across the country would share their insights. The experts include Prof Raj Kumar Singh (Department of Commerce, HPU, Shimla), Prof Madan Lal (Department of Commerce and Business Studies, Delhi University), Prof Manoj Kumar Sinha (PGDAV College, Delhi University), Dr Ruchi Ramesh (Principal, Government College, Darlaghat, Solan), Dr Piyush Sewal (Amity University, Punjab), Prof Sanjay Thakur (Career Point University, Hamirpur), Dr Vijay Nag (Principal, Government College, Banikhet), Dr Mohinder Kumar Salaria (Principal, Government College, Salooni), Dr Hemant Pal (Principal, Government College, Bharmour), and Narayan Singh (TGT, Fulbright Fellowship and British Council Scholarship holder).
Vijay Kumar, convener of the conference, said that scholars from India and abroad would take part in the event. Various committees had been formed and preparations were in full swing. He added that such conferences were an annual feature of the college.
He said that the deadline for the submission of research papers was October 30 and the selected abstracts would be published in an edited volume. He expressed confidence that the conference would enrich the intellectual environment of the college and offer a stimulating experience to both students and faculty members.
