Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayar on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a multi-storey indoor stadium project in Bharga, Chamba, which is set to be constructed at a cost of Rs 11.12 crore.

Addressing a public gathering after the ceremony, Nayar said the indoor stadium would include a swimming pool and elevator on the ground floor, a boxing ring, gymnasium, and coach rooms on the first floor and badminton courts and a table tennis hall on the second floor.

“This modern facility will greatly benefit athletes across the district by providing state-of-the-art sports infrastructure,” he added.

Highlighting ongoing development work in the constituency, Nayar said 17 new roads have been approved under Phase 4 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), aimed at connecting remote villages in Chamba. He also shared that under PMGSY Phase 3, 71.5 km of link roads in the region are being upgraded at a cost of Rs 79.32 crore.

Nayar added that Rs 15.39 crore has already been spent under NABARD for widening, metalling, and tarring key roads including Kohlari to Talai, Kandu to Nichla Panjoh, Kandu to Upper Panjoh, and Chamba Malon to Kathna.

During the event, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Rupesh Kumar was also present.
