Industries, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour and Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan unfurled the national flag and took the salute at the ceremonial march-past.
Contingents of the District Police, Forest Department, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and Bharat Scouts and Guides, participated in the grand parade. The parade was led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Devender Singh.
Extending greetings and best wishes to the people of the state, Chauhan paid rich tributes to the great freedom fighters, brave soldiers and nation-builders who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
Highlighting the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of Himachal Pradesh, the minister said that the successful implementation of welfare schemes and policies has made the state a role model for other hilly regions.
Referring to development initiatives in aspirational district Chamba, the minister said that since January 2023, the Public Works Department has spent Rs 553 crore on various projects. As part of this, 167 km of new roads have been constructed, and 175 km have been upgraded with blacktopping.
For irrigation and drinking water facilities, 52 schemes worth Rs 239 crore are being implemented under NABARD, while three projects worth Rs 100 crore are under progress with ADB and NDB assistance.
He further added that the state government has accorded administrative approval of Rs 194 crore for the second phase of construction at Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Sarol, Chamba.
