Chamba’s Haripur selected model village under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Haripur panchayat, located in the outskirts of Chamba town, has been selected as a model village under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal said on Monday. He was presiding over the district-level committee meeting held at the district headquarters.

The DC said Haripur would be developed as an Model Solar Village under the scheme, for which a grant of Rs 1 crore will be provided. He directed the project officer of HIMURJA to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for setting up a solar power plant in the panchayat.

He also instructed that awareness material on the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana be prepared and distributed to Block Development Officers for spreading information among the public. The Panchayat Pradhan of Haripur has also been asked to place the matter for discussion in the upcoming Gram Sabha meeting.

The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Project Officer (Energy) Shashikant Dogra, who also provided detailed information about various components of the scheme.

Non-official members present in the meeting included Lalit Thakur, Chairman, District Agriculture Produce and Marketing Committee and Pradhans of Udaipur, Kariyan, Sarol, Sahu-Padhar and Haripur.
