Himachal Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday conducted a review visit to the Government De-addiction Centre in Bhuntar, located 10 km from Kullu. During the visit, he assessed the centre’s functioning and outlined plans for its upgradation, emphasising the state government’s holistic and multi-layered approach to combating substance abuse.

The Chief Secretary praised the centre’s efforts in helping individuals overcome addiction. At present, the Outpatient Department (OPD) treatment facility has a capacity of 20 beds for men and 15 beds for women.

In a major announcement, he stated that the centre’s capacity would soon be enhanced with the construction of an additional 30-bed block, significantly strengthening the treatment infrastructure. Deputy Commissioner Torul S Raveesh provided detailed insights into the centre’s impact.
