Poor condition of roads

The Hamirpur Municipal Committee has failed to undertake road repair work. The road that connects the main market with Nadaun chowk is in bad shape. A portion of the road was dug nearly 10 days ago to clean a choked sewer line. However, it has not been repaired so far. – Rakesh Verma, Hamirpur

Slow construction work

The construction of the Sharni Piri road falling under the Banjar segment of Kullu district has been stopped for the last two weeks. The state Public Works Department should make efforts to speed up the construction work so that villagers are not put to inconvenience. Tehal Singh, Banjar.

Presentation on coronavirus

Students and staff of Auckland House School attended a presentation on coronavirus given by Dr Gopal Ashish Sharma and Dr Neha from Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. Dr Sharma highlighted how the virus is spread and what are its symptoms. He also discussed precautionary measures for the same. Videos titled ‘Girl effect’ and ‘Story of cholera’ were shown. A question-answer session was also organised,

Theatre workshop

A two-day theatre workshop organised by the Lok Sanskriti Manch of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) concluded on Monday. It was attended by 50 stage artistes. The HPU unit of the manch was set up in 2005 and has produced several famous stage artistes. A 19-member committee of students was also formed during the workshop. Ashwani and Anil were elected the president and secretary, respectively.

Memorandum to Governor

The ABVP unit of Government College Sanjauli (Shimla) on Monday presented a memorandum of demands to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya during his visit to the college. The demands included the restoration of direct elections to the students’ central associations, repair of the old college building, the timely completion of the stadium, adequate parking, timely declaration of results and the inclusion of a students’ representative in the executive council of the HPU.

Workshop at Himalayan Public

Himalayan Public School, Nagrota Bagwan, organised a workshop for classes I to VIII to share the intellectual talent of students. Parents were also invited to this programme. Coordinator of the E- DAC learning system Nimisha was the chief guest. Earlier, school director Anurag Gupta lighted the lamp. Students performed short plays on different topics.

Science day celebrated with photograph

Science Day was celebrated in various colleges across the district. A one-day workshop was organised on low pressure physics at Government College, Theog. Science models were put on display. At Sanjauli College, poster-making and a quiz competition were the main highlights. A documentary on water crisis and global warming was shown at RKMV.
