Need to expedite work on Janedghat-Dublu-Gaura-Yashwantnagar road

The Janedghat-Dublu-Gaura-Yashwantnagar road had got damaged near Lakhoti almost four months ago, when 8-metre stretch of the road gave way. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to the farmers, as they have to take their produce to the market by travelling 30 km extra from the Chail side to reach mandis. Though the work has started, but it is being done at a slow pace. This way it will take very long for the road to be completed. Trucks parked on road obstruct traffic

Truckers, who halt at Shekhar Dhaba at Jabli on the Kalka-Shimla highway, park their vehicles haphazardly. Most of the time, traffic moves only though the single lane along the dhaba as landslides often lead to the closure of the other lane. The parked trucks are dangerous for the traffic as they obstruct the view, and the space on road for two-way movement of traffic is reduced to minimum. This should be urgently checked as it can lead to accidents. — Dr Manjit S Bal, Kumarhatti

Waive prospectus fee: ABVP

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad submitted a memorandum to Secretary, Higher Education, demanding that prospectus fee be waived for the students seeking admission in colleges. The student body also demanded that the students facing problems in admission due to network connectivity should be provided an offline option. Also, the students demanded that a fresh date for the start of admission process should be announced.

Admission begins in Sanjauli college

The online admission process at Government College, Sanjauli, will start on July 17. College Principal Chander Bhan Mehta said the link for admission will become functional at 10 am on the college website, http://www.gcsanjauli.com. The admission for the first-year students in various streams will continue till July 30. The roll on admission in the second year and the final year will start from July 20 and continue till August 14. Fees, too, will be accepted online through net banking, google pay, paytm etc. In case of any query, students can contact the college.

NSUI questions admission process

The NSUI has raised questions over admissions in all colleges, claiming that the college administration has failed to handle the online admission process. Balwinder Singh Ballu, NSUI national coordinator, said the state government had announced that admissions would start by July 15, but the government had failed to keep its word. He said students were feeling restless because colleges had not initiated the admission process.

Ekansh tops the school

Ekansh Mahajan stood first in Noorpur Public School after securing 98 per cent marks, followed by Aditya Vasu with 97 per cent. Aikakshwer Vivek scored 94.6 per cent.

Literature society at Shoolini varsity

The faculty and students from the Department of English at Shoolini University constituted Belletristic: Shoolini Loves Literature Society to inculcate love for literature among the young and the old. It has been organising online curricular and extracurricular activities to keep the students engaged amid the stress caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
