Due to poor garbage disposal in Dharampur, Mandi district, heaps of garbage keep piling up. Stink emanating from the garbage has made the lives of locals miserable. Garbage strewn all around presents an ugly picture. The local administration should ask the civic body to make proper arrangements for the disposal of garbage. Suresh Thakur, Mandi

No end to parking chaos in Shimla

Parking in Shimla has become a headache for commuters. Vehicles are being indiscriminately challaned by the police, but the Shimla Municipal Corporation and the district administration have adopted an indifferent attitude. Even vehicles carrying patients to hospitals are not being spared. The government declared the Vidhan Sabha-Boileauganj road a non-restricted stretch. It gave in to pressure from lawyers, but the Sanjauli-IGMC road is still on the list of restricted roads and vehicles parked on the road are challaned. My vehicle was challaned twice in a month near the IGMC. The apathetic attitude of the government is appalling as taking care of ailing persons should be the first priority of the government. —Preetam, Shimla
