Cleanliness campaign to be held in Kinnaur

Under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, a cleanliness drive will be organised in the tribal district of Kinnaur from September 14 to October 1. A meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Sharma, regarding the successful implementation of this campaign was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office auditorium.

While addressing the meeting, the DC stated that the cleanliness campaign will officially commence on September 13, with the theme ‘Innate Cleanliness, Cultural Cleanliness’. He mentioned that the primary aim of this campaign is to raise awareness among the public about the importance of cleanliness.

Various awareness programmes will be organised at the panchayat level and across the development blocks of Kalpa, Nichar and Pooh to educate people on solid and liquid waste management. Additionally, free health camps will be organised by the Health Department for sanitation workers of Special Area Development Authority (SADA), providing them with essential health information.

The DC said that individuals who demonstrate outstanding work during the campaign will be recognised and honoured. He also instructed the district policeand other relevant agencies to coordinate to ensure the campaign’s success and enhance public awareness about cleanliness.

The Block Development Officer of Pooh and District Development Officer, Abhishek Barwal, conducted the meeting and informed the attendees about the various activities planned under the cleanliness campaign.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Superintendent of Police Naveen Jalta, District Health Officer Dr Kaviraj Negi, General Manager of District Industries Centre Guru Lal Negi, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Dinesh Sen, Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department Abhishek Sharma, Principal of DIET Kuldeep Negi, Deputy Director of Horticulture Bhupendra Negi, Regional Manager of HRTC Piyush Sharma, District Agriculture Officer Dr OP Bansal and President of Tribal Women Welfare Council Ratna Manjari, along with other officials and employees.
