Solan, February 2

As many as 40 passengers had a narrow escape when a private bus en route Nahan-Bhangaini skidded on the icy road at Dom-Ka-Bagh on the Haripurdhar-Sangrah Road in Sirmaur district this afternoon.

The visibly shaken up passengers alighted from the bus as soon as it stopped and blamed the PWD staff for the ice-ridden roads which were used by thousands of commuters on a daily basis.

SP Sirmaur, Ajay Krishan, said no passenger was hurt after the private bus skidded on the Haripurdhar-Sangrah road.

The passengers rued that the ice-ridden road had increased the risk of accidents while the PWD employees had not made any efforts to clear the road of the snow to facilitate movement of vehicles. Terming it as a grave irresponsibility, the passengers said the journey had become risky ever since it snowed.
