Passengers of a Haryana Roadways bus had a narrow escape when the driver lost control over the wheel and it first rammed into a parapet and then an electricity pole at Tambu Mor on the Parwanoo-Dharampur section of the National Highway-5 around 10 am today.

A major accident was averted as the bus en route to Shimla stopped after hitting the pole, otherwise it would have plunged into a gorge. About 18 passengers, besides the driver and the conductor were on board and they were said to be safe. The passengers boarded other buses for the remaining journey.

DSP, Parwanoo, Pranav Chauhan said that the incident was being probed and action, as per the findings, would be taken against the bus driver.
