Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary at the historic Ridge here today. Remembering her immense contribution to nation-building, the Chief Minister said that her visionary decisions laid a strong foundation for India’s progress. “Her leadership in poverty alleviation, economic reforms, nationalisation of banks, boosting agricultural productivity, employment generation and social empowerment was unparalleled,” he added.

While paying tributes to the departed leader at the Congress headquarters, Pratibha Singh said Himachal would never forget her contribution in granting full statehood and its development. “Due to her wisdom and political maturity, Pakistan had to surrender before India,” she said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and MLAs also paid their tributes to the late leader.
