Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today paid tribute to Simmi Agnihotri, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, during a prayer meeting organised at their ancestral Gondpur Jaichand village in the Haroli Assembly segment.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi also attended the prayers. Simmi, a professor at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), breathed her last on February 9.

Sukhu said that he had known Simmi for a long time since both had been students of the HPU.

The Chief Minister said that Simmi was a simple woman and she had been a pillar of strength to her family and the people of the Haroli segment. She would always be remembered for her efforts for women empowerment, the Chief Minister added.

Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, MLAs Ram Kumar, Sanjay Rattan, Bhawani Singh Pathania, Sudarshan Babloo and Neeraj Nayyar, Chief Minister’s Political Adviser Suneel Sharma Bittu, former minister Kuldeep Kumar, former MLA Satpal Raizada, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh were also present at the prayer meeting.
