Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today released a book titled — “Rohtang: Aar Paar” written by renowned Hindi poet Ajey of Lahaul and Spiti today.

Commending the author’s efforts, the Chief Minister said the book serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous people of the Himalayas. He said the state government is committed to nurturing local talent and assured all possible support to such outstanding and popular works.

Author Ajey said the book is a compilation of memoirs, travelogues, diary entries, letters, blog posts and conversations with young writers. He said the book captures unique lifestyle, cultural heritage and biodiversity of the Himalayas.

Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Chairman of Tourism Department Chander Mohan Parashera and HP Head of HelpAge India Dr Rajesh Kumar were also present.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
