CM Sukhu visits rain-hit Serthi village in Mandi, orders swift relief efforts

The region has witnessed significant damage to infrastructure and property due to continuous downpours over the past few days.
In Mandi district, at least 10 bodies have been recovered, while 34 persons are still missing in different parts of the district after cloudburst and flash flood incidents that occurred on Monday night.
During his visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar and senior officials from the district administration. They provided him with a detailed overview of the current situation in Dharampur and adjoining areas, outlining the extent of the damage and the immediate needs of the affected population.
CM Sukhu issued clear directives to the administration to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts, ensuring that aid reaches those in need without delay. He emphasised that the relief work must be swift and effective, with all departments working in close coordination to manage the crisis efficiently.
“Necessary instructions have been given to the concerned officials to intensify the relief operations. We are committed to ensuring that every affected person receives timely assistance,” said the Chief Minister while interacting with officials and residents.
Sukhu also highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant in view of the weather forecasts predicting more rain in the coming days. He assured the public that the government is taking all precautionary measures to avoid further loss and is prepared to respond promptly to any emergency.
“All departments are on high alert and coordinated efforts are underway to ensure smooth execution of relief work. We aim to provide quick and comprehensive support to the affected families,” he added.
The government has mobilised resources across all levels and is working tirelessly to restore normalcy in the affected areas. Relief camps have been set up, and essential supplies, including food, shelter and medical care are being distributed to those impacted.
