Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu tried all means to win the Hamirpur byelection but the people of the constituency did not trust his words and defeated his foul attempts, said victorious BJP candidate Ashish Sharma while interacting with mediapersons here today.

He said that he would remain indebted to the voters of the constituency for electing him as their MLA despite huge pressure from the government. He added that the Chief Minister tried to mislead people with his lies but was not successful.

Ashish thanked BJP national president JP Nadda, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, BJP state president Rajeev Bindal and former Union Minister and local MP Anurag Thakur for their support in the byelection. He said that the BJP activists worked round the clock for his victory and he would not disappoint anyone of them. He added that victory was not possible without the contribution of women party workers, who went door to door to seek votes for him.

He said that he would continue to serve the people of the constituency and would bring development with the support of BJP leaders at the Centre. Earlier, Ashish paid obeisance at the Gasota Mahadev Temple. His wife Swati Sharma said that the BJP had contested the byelection on the issue of development while the Congress always ran away from the core issues of the constituency.

Swati said that their entire family was thankful to the people of the constituency for their support and affection for Ashish. She added that she would visit the constituency to extend her gratitude to people.
