The Congress launched its district-level signature campaign ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ here today, aiming to raise awareness about alleged vote tampering during previous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The campaign was kicked off in the presence of AICC Secretary Vidit Chaudhary, Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar, former ministers Rangila Ram Rao and Prakash Chaudhary, former CPS Sohan Lal Thakur and other local leaders.

Briefing the media, MLA Chander Shekhar said the campaign was being conducted on the directive of the party high command, following concerns raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over reported incidents of vote theft, which allegedly harmed the party’s prospects in past elections.

He said the primary objective of the campaign is to awaken voters at the grassroots level and ensure fair electoral practices. “We have set a target to collect 20,000 signatures from Mandi district alone,” he added. These will be submitted to the party high command in Shimla on October 12.

Chander Shekhar urged all local Congress leaders to actively participate and ensure the success of the campaign in their respective areas.
