Solan, August 26

The Congress today said that the National Monetisation Pipeline aimed at selling public sector undertakings (PSUs) and infrastructure assets over a period of four years has put India on sale.

Chairman of the Congress media department Harshwardhan Chauhan, while addressing mediapersons here, alleged, “Various assets such as roads, railways, passenger trains, sports stadiums, ports etc., which were created by the past governments, would be sold or leased out to corporate houses to generate Rs 1.52 lakh crore”.

He said, “Though the PSUs were incurring losses, past governments had been compensating them as they facilitate the masses”.

The Shillai MLA criticised the government for failing to address the key issues of the fuel price hike, which was affecting common people. He said that the LPG cylinder price had nearly doubled in seven years to Rs 950 while during the UPA government they had increased only up to Rs 450.

Chauhan alleged that the Jan Aashirward Yatra of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur could lead to the third wave of Covid.
