The statue was originally scheduled to be unveiled by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. However, owing to the ongoing natural calamities in the state, the CM deputed Yadvinder Gomma to perform the honour.

Addressing the gathering, Gomma said he had assured Congress workers of Jaisinghpur that a statue of the late Prime Minister would be installed and today he had fulfilled that commitment. Paying glowing tributes, he recalled Rajiv Gandhi’s sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the nation, calling it “supreme and unforgettable.”

Highlighting the state government’s developmental priorities, Gomma added, “The Himachal Pradesh government is committed to strengthening sports and ayurveda. The Rajiv Gandhi Post Graduate Ayurvedic College at Paprola will be equipped with additional faculty and modern infrastructure and vacant teaching posts will soon be filled.”
