Congress workers burnt the effigy of Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur at Reckong Peo on Monday to protest the misbehaviour of BJP workers against Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi at Thunag, which falls under the constituency of Thakur. Protesters threw black flags and footwear on Negi's vehicle and obstructed his way.

Kesar Negi, a member of the Tribal Advisory Council, said the attack on the Minister would not be tolerated by the tribal community.

Holding Thakur responsible for the protest, Negi warned that Thakur would face severe opposition if he ever visited the tribal areas.
