BJP state president Rajeev Bindal said here today that the Congress government had during its 22-month tenure proved to be the most incompetent regime.

Bindal, in a press note issued, stated that all false promises of the government had been exposed. “Now, the whole country has come to know that the Congress has deceived the poor as well as other common people of the state to come to power. However, its lies have now been exposed,” he claimed.

He claimed that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge had advised all party leaders and Chief Ministers and even Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to only make promises that they could realistically fulfil.

Bindal said that instead of fulfilling promises made to people, the Congress had started imposing taxes on them. “Taxes have been levied on various essential commodities such as water, electricity, ration, stamp duty and on fuel,” he alleged.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
