Congress infighting led to ‘political instability’

The Congress government has been reduced to a minority regime. Infighting in the Congress has created political instability in the state, said Sullah MLA Vipin Parmar while addressing mediapersons here today.

Parmar said that infighting and bickering in the Congress was at its climax. “The Congress government has lost the moral right and authority to remain in power after its candidate lost the Rajya Sabha election. The conflicting statements of the Chief Minister and his ministers show that all is not well in the government,” he added.

He said that the manner in which the government was working was unconstitutional and against democracy. “The manner in which 15 BJP MLAs were suspended during the latest Assembly session so that the Budget was passed was undemocratic and unfair. The disqualification of six Congress rebels in such a haste also proves undemocratic means being adopted by the ruling party to remain in power,” he added.

He said that the Congress regime had been reduced to a minority government. “The outbursts of party ministers and MLAs against their own government reflects the tense political situation in the state. The state Congress president has also expressed her displeasure over the political upheaval in the state and how the government has denied due respect to former CM Virbhadra Singh,” he added.

Parmar said that it was unfortunate that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu referred to the six rebels as ‘kale nag’. “It is unfair to call the elected representatives of people as black snakes. Such derogatory remarks only reflects the style of functioning and the choice of words used by the Chief Minister,” he added.

He said, “Though it is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order, some leaders in the Assembly segments represented by the six disqualified MLAs are holding protests. The Congress government should handle the law and order situation properly. The burning the effigies of elected MLAs is totally wrong.”
