Consult Ayurveda practitioner before drinking 'kadha'

The District Ayurveda Authority, Mandi, has asked people to use Ayush Kadha only under the prescription of an Ayurveda practitioner. Taking the ‘kadha’ without consulting an expert may prove to be harmful for a person, said District Ayurveda Officer Dr Govind Ram. He said in order to increase immunity in view of the pandemic, the Ministry of Ayush had suggested the use of Ayush Kadha (a decoction).

He said various types of ayurvedic ‘kadha’ were available in the market which had different types of ingredients. Using these may can cause harm to people, he said. He urged people to use kadha only after consulting an Ayurveda practitioner.

He said patients undergoing treatment at dedicated covid care centres established in the district were being given ‘kadha’ only on the advice of Ayurvedic experts. Ayurveda is based on vata, pitta and kapha (tridosha), he said, adding that the ‘kadha’ was used only for patients of particular nature after taking quantity into consideration.
