The Rajgarh police have arrested five local youths for their alleged involvement in an attempt to loot the Narag branch of Uco Bank on November 8.

“The accused confessed to having made a similar attempt at a jewellery showroom at Solan

in August, besides looting a Nepalese at Pacchad last year after tying his hands and feet. All accused are in their 20s,” said Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Khushal Sharma.

The police said the accused were produced in a local court, which sent them to police custody till November 19.

The police zeroed in on the local gang with the help of the cellphone dump data. Being a remote area, there were a few cellphone users in

the record scanned by the

police around the location of Uco Bank.

The miscreants had entered the bank after breaking open its

locks, but failed to break open the cash chest. To hide their identities, two of the accused wore helmets while others wore fully covered masks.

The accused have been identified as Ankush, a resident of Nohradhar tehsil, Varun and Sachin, both residents of Pacchad tehsil, Subhash of Anji Sewat village and Dinesh of Dhar Tikri village in Sirmaur district.
